Advocating for talented individuals that just happen to have a disability and for organizations wanting to foster a disability-friendly culture.
Trouble that are bound to ensue; and equaly blame belongs those who fail in their duty through weakness of will which is the same as saying through shrinking from toil and pain.
Anessa was born and raised in Clarksville, Tennessee.
She attended Auburn University where she earned her Bachelors in Hotel and Restaurant Management with a Minor in Business. Upon graduation, she was hired by Marriott International to be an Event Planner in Atlanta, Georgia. Eventually she became the Director of Event Planning before leaving the industry to start a family with her husband, Bill (see COO). Two kids, a couple of out of state moves, and a rare disease diagnosis later, Anessa became a Disability Advocate and Speaker in Charlotte, North Carolina where she educates others that disabilities come in many forms. LinkedInAs Anessa began networking and meeting others in the disability community, she found herself continually amazed at the talented disabled individuals who were failing to find full time employment. Whether it be the stigma of disclosing to an employer that they had a disability, or the lack of accommodations provided, it was baffling why companies weren't recognizing this phenomenal untapped talent pool.
As the Pandemic changed lives in so many ways and employers began to recognize jobs can be done from home (and done well!), Anessa along with her husband, Bill, created AllAbility Recruiting. In 2013, Anessa was diagnosed with Addison’s Disease (Primary Adrenal Insufficiency), a rare Autoimmune Disease. It was a long road to diagnosis and her life was forever changed upon receiving the news.
Thankful to have a name for the cause of the symptoms, but still left with so many questions, Anessa immersed herself into researching about the disease. In that research, she discovered a whole new world and life of the invisible disability community. A battle cry of "But, you don’t look sick!" led her to begin sharing her story through the former social media pages of "Addison’s Disease with Grace". In 2017, Anessa launched her speaking platform and anessapowell.com was created.Huge Auburn fan. War Eagle!
Can often times be the loudest parent in the stands when cheering on her daughter in a Volleyball game, or when her son is on the mound pitching in a Baseball game. Big proponent of naps Coffee, red wine, white sandy beaches, and oxford comma enthusiastTrouble that are bound to ensue; and equaly blame belongs those who fail in their duty through weakness of will which is the same as saying through shrinking from toil and pain.
Beguiled and demoralized by the charms of pleasure of the moment.
